Walk/ Ride/ Bike... or Ice Skate?

At first when I got this project I thought of going swing dancing in the Ethical Society building on Ritten House, but I've done that before, and it felt like cheating. So then I came up with the idea to go ice skating. The problem with going swing dancing was that I had done it too recently, I haven't been ice skating since I was like 5. One of my friends had their birthday party at an ice skating rink, and I'm pretty sure I remember clinging to the wall for dear life.

I ended up going with my friend Emily, who has absolutely never skated before, to the River Rink near Penns Landing. We took the Broadstreet line to City Hall and then transfered to the Market Frankfurt line, got off at 2nd Street and from there we walked to River Rink. We got there around 8 and waited until 8:30 to get tickets and skates. The first steps on the rink were shaky at best. But, amazingly, by the end of the night I could skate pretty well. I didn't fall down except for when Emily pulled me down. Emily didn't have as much luck as me. Suffice to say, she is now covered in bruises, but by the end of the night she got around the rink twice without falling.

I asked the people working there to help me find the 5 objects for this project. They were basically willing to give me anything, it was humorous. The one worker gave me a skate lace, the next guy tried to give me all of the cleaning supplies, another one almost gave me his sweatshirt, and another guy volunteered to come home with me.

I discovered that ice skating is a lot of fun, and I'm actually fairly good at it, and looking back a day later, the pain that ankles are in is worth the fun that I had.
